When people ask me “Where do your crochet ideas come from?” the truth is… inspiration is everywhere. From strange real-life animals to my favourite video games, TV shows, and films, I love turning the unexpected into unique crochet patterns and handmade creations.

Frankenrabbit
One of the strangest real-life inspirations I’ve come across is the so-called Frankenrabbit—a rabbit that made the news for its unusual, growths look. With its quirky charm and slightly spooky vibes, it instantly sparked an idea for a new Halloween crochet project. Real animals like this often inspire me to create creepy-cute crochet designs that feel both playful and a little unusual.

Ideas from fictional media
But real life is just one part of my creative process. I also draw heavily from fictional media. My Marvel-inspired Captain America crochet dog bandana came from translating the superhero’s iconic red, white, and blue shield into yarn form. Gaming is another endless source of ideas—magical items, armour sets, and fantasy creatures often find their way into my crochet sketches. A zombie pet in a roleplaying game might become a Halloween crochet towel, while a glowing potion could turn into a decorative ornament.

This mix of real-world oddities and fantasy worlds is what makes crochet so exciting to me. Handmade crafts aren’t limited to traditional shapes—they can be as wild and imaginative as the stories and creatures that inspire them. That’s why my projects often include Halloween crochet patterns, fantasy crochet designs, and pet-inspired crafts.
At the heart of it, crochet is about creativity. It’s about looking at something unusual—like a Frankenrabbit or a magical staff in a game—and asking, what would this look like in crafts? The result is always something unexpected, whimsical, and completely unique.
